Interesting Information About The Key Note Speaker Fredrick Douglas' Family

Who would have imagined that just filling out a simple one page TOPS application would lead to a multi-year campaign and national recognition of our efforts to preserve our wonderful little park right in the middle of the city?  It sure was fun to be able to attend the Scenic America press conference in Washington DC and see all the areas around the country facing the same development pressures we are.  Scenic America checked up on the validity of our claim that the area is something special.  When you start looking around, there just aren't very many cities of our size with 50 acres of open space that can be preserved right on one of the busiest roads in town.  Hopefully, the national recognition combined with positive press will help convince the city that the area really does need to be preserved before it is lost.
